North Regina Little League uses a 2 tier system of play in most age groups:
LEVELS OF PLAY & AGE DIVISIONS
All ages are as of April 30th of the current
playing year.
Emphasizing the spirit of Little League, rules
require that every child play in every game.

Jr. Rookie (ages 5,6)
Sr. Rookie (ages 7,8)
Minor (ages 9,10)
Major (ages 11,12)
Junior (ages 13,14)

NRLL has Junior Rookie (ages 5 & 6), Senior Rookie (ages 7 &
8), Minor
(ages 9 & 10), Major (ages 11 & 12), and Junior (ages 13 - 14). The Challenger
Division (ages 4 - 18) is specifically designed for mentally and physically
challenged children and NRLL operates the Challenger Division on a City wide
basis as NRLL is the only league offering this program in Regina.
Jr. & Sr. Rookie
Our "Learn to Play" divisions are the best way to teach our young
ones the basics of baseball while having fun and meeting new friends. Every player
receives a team t-shirt or jersey and a baseball cap.
Junior Rookie (Ages 5 & 6)

Entry-level developmental division with emphasis learning
to participate in a structured or organized environment.

Teams play 14 games and a playoff
tournament.

Game time slots are divided into a practice session and a
game.

Umpires pitch using a kenko ball.

All players are fielded, and all players bat.
-
Batting helmets and bats are provided.
Senior Rookie (Ages 7 & 8)

Slightly more advanced with emphasis on further skill development.

This age group is tiered into AA & A divisions.

Teams play 14-16 games and a playoff tournament.

Senior Rookie A is machine pitch using a kenko ball.

Senior Rookie AA is player pitch using a baseball.

All players are fielded and all players bat.

Batting helmets and bats are provided.
Minor & Major
Here is where the real game experience comes into play. These
divisions divide into A & AA teams based on the level of the players. This is where
teams start to go to tournaments and we start to groom our pitchers. Uses a 60-foot
diamond with pitching distance set at 46 feet. Features a full range of tournament
play, including the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Minor (Ages 9 & 10)

At this level, children are playing 12-man baseball.

Teams play 14-16 league games and at least two tournaments including
playoffs.

Player's skills are evaluated in order to determine which
tier they will play in as well providing the coaches with ratings on each player.

Based on the evaluation ratings, teams are drafted by the
coaches.

All players are eligible to try out for All Star play.
Major (Ages 11 & 12)

Teams in both divisions play 14-16 league games as well as at
least two tournaments including playoffs.

Player's skills are evaluated in order to determine which
tier they will play in as well providing the coaches with ratings on each player.

Based on the evaluation ratings, teams are drafted by the
coaches.

All players are eligible to try out for All Star play.
Junior
This division is a little more competitive, only because that
is the nature of the players in this age group. Our coaches emphasize fun, sportsmanship,
technique and strategy. Uses an 80-foot diamond with pitching distance set at 60
feet 6 inches. You will see your son or daughter excel at a position that they will
likely favor well into adulthood.
Junior (Ages 13-14)

Player's skills are evaluated in order to determine which
tier they will play in, as well as providing the coaches with ratings on each
player.

Based on the evaluation ratings, teams are drafted by the
coaches.

Teams in both divisions play 14-16 league games as well as at
least two tournaments including playoffs.
